The Boys at 40 Pines

The boys had their annual Father's day trip to the cabin. Carter and Matt left the girls behind to have some boy fun. Carter was so excited to go this year, he loves it there. He had a hard time going to sleep the night before knowing that they were leaving in the morning. Matt thought well maybe he would take a nap on the ride up to the cabin. Oh no, he was still talking about how excited he was to go. The pictures above are mostly of Matt and his brother's guided fishing trip. They had a great time on the river and an experience they will always remember. I am glad they all had a fun time and no major events occurred other than Carter's ankles being swollen from mosquito bites. Ashlynn and I are glad they are home.

Ashlynn's Dance Concert

Ashlynn had her end of the year Dance Concert this week. She worked hard at school and home practicing her dance moves. She had two dances. One of them was called her "Big Girl" dance. She had to wear the big wig, which she was not a fan of because we had to attached the wig with 10 pins to make it stay. Her second dance was a "Pirate" tumbling dance. They were so cute running around the stage with their pirate costumes. Ashlynn had a fun year with her dance school. We are taking a short summer break and then she will back at it when school starts up again. Thanks for all the family and friends that came to support her during all her dance performances.

Pedicure gone wrong...

The boys are at the cabin, Ashlynn is at a birthday party..What is a mom to do without any kids that is just for her...A Pedicure. Well, this was a brave move for me because I have never had a pedicure before and have always been a little anxious about people invading my personal space. So, I convinced myself to do it. I walk in picked out my nail color, which there was way too many colors to pick from. Sat down in my foot bath and waited my turn. I was feeling very nervous and starting talking to the girl next to me. So, after waiting a few minutes they started with the process. I tried to read, but found myself watching their every move. So, I started feeling a little more comfortable with the massaging and working with my feet when all of the sudden I felt sharp object being stabbed in my foot and looked down and saw blood dripping from my big toe. The pedicurist started panicking that she had cut into my toe. At this point she has informed me that she gets faint with the site of blood. So, another pedicurist took over to stop the bleeding. They applied a gauze and this liquid band aid stuff to stop the bleeding. After this is not working a few other workers come over to look at my toe and pull out their first aid kit to repair my toe. Meanwhile, the ladies in the spa are shocked because they said that this has never happened to them. While the pedicurists are tending to my foot, I have no idea what the workers are saying to each other because they are speaking another language, but they seem worried. Meanwhile, the pedicurist that caused this is so upset that she didn't want me to yell at her. I don't why she would think that. Maybe, this has happened before. While all this is going on the sweet girl sitting next to me is talking to me and keeping my mind off my now sore, red, swelling toe. All I am thinking is I am going to get toe cellulitis from a foot pedicure. Why me! So, after the whole event and sitting in the chair for 2 hours which was only suppose to be a 40 minutes session to start with. They put Neosporin on my toe, painted my nails a pretty pink with a flower on the injured toe, gave me a discount and told me come back soon. Am I crazy! I don't think so!
Here is the finished look. The swelling in my toe has gone down, but it is a little tender to walk on. After talking to Matt, he says this would only happen to me. I was only a girl wanting to relax a little.

Hey Batter... Batter... Swing

Carter and Matt's baseball season came to end this week. Matt did a great job coaching the team and they had a fun season. Carter was one of the young one's on his team, but he kept up. Next year he will actually be the right age to play the machine pitch league. Matt really liked coaching, he said he is going to coach again next year. All the boys did really good and it was so fun to watch them each week. Go D-Backs!!

Happenings..

We have had a few busy weeks. Here are some pictures of some of our happenings lately. We celebrated Matt's birthday last week and had his favorite BBQ food. Carter had his end of the school year fun. He is very excited to be a 1st grader next year. He asks every day "Is is time for me to go to 1st grade yet." Then, Sam our nephew was baptised. Carter said the opening prayer at the Baptism and did the best he could remember. Good job Carter!

Moab Adventures

We had our 2nd annual camping Moab trip with a group of friends. The kids enjoyed hiking and playing in the sand. It was a little warm, but it didn't stop us. The campsite that was recommended by my co-worker was a great spot to camp. Although, the other campers that were across from us is a another story. Lets just say having a attempted car burglary during the night just isn't fun. I am glad it happened on the last night because after that I was ready to go home. The trip was a lot of fun and look forward to it again next year. More fun during our trip. The campground has lots of fun things to do. We especially loved the swimming pool. It was nice to cool off after a long day in the sun. I love the photo of the kids in the tent. You have got to love modern technology to keep kids quiet so that they can fall asleep.

Ashlynn turns 4 and she is growing up!

Ashlynn's birthday was May 27th and we had a full day of celebration for her. She had her last day of preschool on her birthday so, she had a party to start the day off. Then, she had a friend water party in the backyard. Finally, we ended the day with cake and ice cream with family.

I can't believe how much she has grown in the last year. Ashlynn has not only grown up physically, but she has gained a little girl personality. She is so sweet and always talks with such emotion. My recent favorite story is when we were walking down the toy aisle. She was so mesmerized by the princess things, and she said "Oh mom, these are so beautiful!" with a little tear running down her cheek and then she said "Oh, why am I crying" and then she wipes her tear, makes sure no one saw her and goes on. It was so cute to watch. I know that this is probably a little foreshadowing of what is to come. Ashlynn always brings a smile to our faces and she will laugh at anyone's jokes. Even Matt's. We love this little girl so much and grateful she is part of our family.
