Flag Football

Carter and Matt's football season has begun...

 

Carter played flag football 2 seasons ago but then played a year of tackle football and then played fall baseball.  So, he is back at it again and the league is the biggest it has ever been.  There is a lot of players that usually play tackle that wanted to try it out.  There are over 500 participants this year!  

 



 Matt is coaching Carter's flag football team and they are both enjoying it. They are the Denver Broncos and are having weekly practices learning all their plays and then have games twice a week until the end of October.    

 Flag football is definitely a game of speed. Here Carter has the ball running for the end zone.

Carter has scored a few touchdowns already with a couple games down.  One of the highlights so far is that Carter's best friend Cameron didn't sign up in time so he was not on any teams.  Matt had one of his players not show up and asked if Cameron could take his spot.  The league said 'yes' even though there was a wait list and now the boys can play together again.  Cameron is a competitive soccer player and can kick the ball really far.  That works in our favor when it comes to punting and kickoffs.

Funny Ashlynn

These pictures are too cute to not share.  She is just a doll and loves to always look her best.  She likes to sleep in these foam curlers and in the morning she has very cute wavy hair.

Visit from Idaho

We had the special pleasure of getting to visit with these special people last weekend.  It was so fun to get together.  We had our traditional kabob BBQ with hot fudge cake and berry cobbler for dessert. Thanks for stopping in to visit!

Home Team

Carter has started off his 6th grade year with a win from voters for Home Team (Student Council)! He made his poster, filled out the application and prepared a 2 minute speech. He is loving this year of school already. He likes the school, has good friends and most of all he has the best teachers to finish out elementary and prepare him for Jr. High next year. What more could you ask for..

Carter is also included in a class that is called the "Geek Squad" where they learn about how computers work and other technology.  His fifth grade teacher from last year nominated him to be on the team for this year.  So, that is exciting to be part of this special opportunity. Their goal for the year is to make their own 'app'. He loves this class!



Ogden Temple Tour

Our family made the special trip to tour the newly renovated Ogden Temple.  This is our temple that is located about 20 minutes from where we live.  The renovation started a year after we moved to Layton.  The kids were excited to see inside the temple.  Carter brought along his friend Cameron to join our adventure, so we included him in our pictures.  I love the peace that is felt in the temples and the truth about that families can be sealed together forever.

 Earlier in the week I was able to be a volunteer for 5 hours in the first aid room during one of the open house mornings.  My small group of 4 people had a personal tour before anyone was there. It was such a special moment for us to be in the temple with no one else around but our small group. It was a experience that I will cherish and I was very thankful for the opportunity to serve in the temple during the open house. 

Labor Day Idaho Bound

We made an impromptu Idaho trip for Labor Day weekend. We saw all the grandparents and enjoyed our time with each of them.  It was our last summer trip and it was time spent well.

We are Back to School..

Summer break is officially over and we are all kind of sad.  We have had awesome weather to enjoy our summer and did lots fun things.

The kids were so super excited about their teachers this year! 

 I think its going to be a GREAT year!

Golf lessons

Carter was signed up for golf lessons at the start of the Spring season but we had to move them to after the baseball season since he decided to give baseball another try.  So, here he is at the end of summer break giving this sport a try.

He such a athletic kid that sports just come natural to him.  This is the first time he has had a formal lesson and he really enjoyed the lessons.

After the lessons were over Carter and Matt have gone to driving range to test out his new skills.  I think he may stick with it if he can find the time in between flag football, basketball this fall/winter and then baseball next spring and we can't forget his sporting stacking :) I love to watch him have fun, smile and learn new things.
