Easter

What a fun Easter Weekend! We had lots of activities to do and enjoyed a family dinner with Craig and Gail's family.

On the Saturday before Easter, our neighborhood has an EGG and treat hunt. Carter had Baseball practice so I took Ashlynn and her friend. Then we headed to Egg dive at the aquatic center.  This has been our tradition since we moved here. The kids are split up by age and have to dive for the sunken eggs and return them for prizes.

Then, Easter morning we headed to church and I taught a sharing time lesson during Primary about the Resurrection and what it means to us today. It was the perfect way to set the spirit of this special holiday. I ended my lesson by showing a short video of the Tabernacle Choir singing "He is Risen". The video had such a powerful message with the clips of Jesus in it you could just feel the joy and peace in our hearts.

Math Night and Rockets...

 The kids school had a Math Night where they built rockets and launched them. We had fun chatting with others and had free dinner with pizza and cookies. 

Ashlynn is working hard to build her rocket.

 Carter has to be exact with his corners and opted not to use scissors.

Their rockets turned out fun and soared in the air.  I didn't get any launching pics because I had to head to work and Matt took over duty. The kids also enjoyed the bottle launchers.

We love all the fun things our school does!

School Soccer Game...

During the first week of April the kids school held a soccer tournament between classes for the 4-6th graders. Carter's class won their grade level.  Yay!!  It was fun! The scoring was different in that the first team to spell the word R-E-S-P-E-C-T won!

Carter is a blue shirt and black and green socks.  He loves to wear crazy socks everywhere!

 

 Carter hasn't played on a organized soccer team since he was 4, so I was interested to see how he would do.

 I should of not had any doubts because he kept up with the others kids really well.

He just has never liked the sport and stills wants to stick with Baseball.

I loved the background of these photos...Snowy mountain tops, but you wouldn't of guessed that it was actually a warm day.  It was so nice to sit in the sun and enjoy the beautiful afternoon.

Spring Break - Day 3

Day 3 of our trip we went to a very neat park that reminded us of Moab.  It was called Pioneer Park. We all climbed the big rocks and had amazing views of St. George.  Then, we grabbed Menchies ice cream and the kids swam.  To end the trip we toured the John Hamilon Home.  We had a fun tour guide that gave us lots of information of the Hamilon family. 

After the tour it was time to hit the road to get back to Northern Utah. We came back to cold and snowy/rainy weather.  We missed the warm sun. This was a great way to spend our break.  We are already planning our next trip to tackle the Angels Landing hike at Zion. We can't wait!

Spring Break - Day 2

We woke up to high winds and rain on Day 2, but that didn't stop us from enjoying our Spring Break.  We headed back to Zion park to do some of the easier trails.  The boys walked the short trail to Weeping Rock. Ashlynn and I stayed in the car because it was raining and we didn't want to get wet and cold the rest of the day. 

After they boys got back the rain started to let up so we walked the Riverside Trail.  It was very pretty with the Virgin River running next to us. Matt really liked the squirrels so we lost him a few times while he was taking pictures of them.  The squirrels would come right up to you and were not afraid to come towards you. It kind of made me nervous. While on this trail it started to rain again but we made it off the trail without getting too soaked.  After the trail walk we had lunch and headed to the human history museum where the kids finished their Jr. Ranger booklets and were swore in as Jr. Rangers. They got badges and stickers for their awards. 

 Then we headed back to St. George to have a yummy dinner at Mike and Laura's.

Spring Break Day 1

We had a very short Spring Break..3 days off from school to be exact.  We spent the time in St. George and toured Zion National Park.  We had a great time even though the weather didn't cooperate for one of the days.  We were also very excited to hang out with Mike and Laura's family.  We always have some good laughs together!  

On Day 1, we hiked the Emerald Pools trails.  It was pretty long with lots of fun elevation changes to view the water falls and pools.  We all made it to the end of the trail to find the big pool of water at the end.  The last part of the hiking trail we had to scale some rocks but the kids loved it and were faster than the adults getting around.

After trying to decide if we wanted to hike the hardest trail called Angels Landing.  We were getting mixed reviews from strangers around.  Some would say don't take small kids, other would say take them. All the boys and I wanted to hike it so bad.  So, we decided to save it for the next day, but with our luck it rained the next day and we did not want to hike the very steep incline up in the rain. 

We then headed back to St. George and found ourselves very hungry and stopped at this fun place called the Zion Post.  The food was so yummy and the decor was fun!

After all the hiking around you would think the kids would be tried..nope they went swimming at the hotel and still had lots of energy.

April Fools and A Birthday!!

Carter is 10 YAY!!....wait April Fools....Got you!

He is really 11..yay!! He actually thought I had it wrong.  He should know by now that anything can happen on his special day...April Fool's Day.

 I always try to do something to get a smile from the kids...Got this fun idea from pinterest. The kids handed them out to their friends at school.

This gift was highlight of his..PSP. He has been wanting one since Christmas. Santa missed this one.

 He picked out his Oreo cake and couldn't stop smiling all day.

 He invited some friends to the Trampoline park where they had fun with the trampolines under the basketball hoops and could do some fun dunks. They also had fun with dodge ball and the foam pits!

Carter is a very energetic kid and loves to constantly be doing something with some sort of ball..we have soccer, football, basketball and baseballs of all sizes and forms around our house. Sometimes we get a little impatient when we trip over one, but it just reminds of us of this sweet boy.

We are so glad that he had a awesome day celebrating his day!

Thanks for everyone that called him and sent gifts. He was so excited about every piece of mail and the calls he got. We sure love this boy!
