Fairy Garden 2015

Ashlynn decided on a beach theme for her fairy garden this year.  She got so many compliments on her garden last year that she wanted to do it again.  She put this together in a few short minutes. We will put some some plants in it when it warms up.  I love how it brings a fun scene to the front porch.

Somebody had a BIRTHDAY!

 The Peterson family got together to celebrate Frankie's 70th Birthday!

What a GREAT lady she is! Thanks for letting us celebrate with you. 

 Here are all the cousins minus 3.  They sure do look like they get along. :)

 The Layton and St. George crew..we are a fun and crazy bunch!

 We made a trip to Ogden to get Frankie's gifts at Rainbow Gardens.  What a fun gift shop!  

This place use to be a swimming pool where Tom and Frankie met, so it was a great place to get her gifts.

 We also made a trip to J&J's to get fairy garden supplies. These girls love to pose funny.

 Grandpa Tom as able to make it to 2 of Carter's basketball games while they were visiting. Carter ended the Winter basketball season playing in 3 games all on the same day.  His last game ended at 10:30p!  Carter still didn't seem too tired..what motivation!

We love it when the cousins come visit..until next time.

Painting Projects

My friend introduced me to milk paint and I have been going crazy with the painting projects!

Before..

My first project was to update this beautiful piece from my mom.  She had this cabinet made to fit these special doors.

After..

I painted it Old Antique White and stained the top to keep its original wood look. I love how it stands out and looks brand new again.

 I loved how the cabinet turned out so I tackled the dinning room chairs..

Yikes what was I thinking! 

The picture above is what the finished product is...Cream with a brown glaze and and few coats of poly to seal them up.

This project was really intense and time consuming, but well worth it.

 These are the chairs in their various stages.  The one on the right is the before, the middle chair is right before the brown glaze and on the left is the finished look.

 And then it was on to the table.  I painted the base the same as the chairs and then darkened the top to match the seats of the chairs.

Here it is all finished. 

 I love how it has lightened up inside our house with all this cream color. 

Now, I am on to painting our kitchen island cabinets.  Wish me luck..this is going to be a long project to paint all the kitchen cabinets. I am up for the challenge!

Carter Jan-Feb

Carter has been busy with basketball with playing on 2 separate teams, but he loves every minute of it. We just finished his rec team season and he is still going to play Spring basketball during baseball season. Wow! This boy loves to be busy with sports.

 Here are shots of him on his Competition Basketball Team.

 

 Carter's 6th grade class got the special opportunity to attend a Math/Science program at Hill Air Force Base. They spent six weeks engaging in lots of fun learning opportunities on the base. They earned tags and lots of awards.  After their completion of the program the base staff held a graduation program to show off all their accomplishments.  What a fun experience!

Carter has a few weeks of free time while he waits for Spring Basketball to start up again in April. I love his constant energy he brings to our family.

Ashlynn Jan-Feb

Since taking most my pictures with my phone and posting on InstaGram, I have neglected our family blog. Yikes..Here is to my non-insta gram blog followers and for our family journal.

Ashlynn is always looking for creative things to take up her time.  Here a few highlights of Ashlynn the last few months.

 We made our time useful at Friday night open gym nights.  I taught Ashlynn and her friend how to shoot a basketball while the boys were scrimmaging.  After a few tries they were making their shots!  Yahoo!

 She loves to bake! While eating a sucker.. Yum!

 She is always making mini figures.  Here is a CD player out of a the top of a shampoo bottle.

 The hair band is from her creative girl kits she gets from Grandma Bobbi.  She did a great job! Also, the cupcake wood project was so cute to put out for Valentine's day.

Lastly, she is still active in her tumbling class and continuing with her violin lessons.
