Carter's Basketball Party

Carter is all about basketball lately since it consumes most of his life right now. He just loves the sport and it keeps him active. We reserved the church gym for pizza, ice cream and basketball fun.  I had games planned to win prizes but all the boys just wanted to play basketball the entire 3 hours and didn't want to leave.  It was great because there was enough boys for two entire teams and a few subs.  They even organized a tournament with smaller teams.  It was a fun night for Carter to celebrate his 12th birthday with his basketball buddies.  And of course, Ashlynn brought along a friend to keep her from getting too bored.

Fun Times

 The kids always look forward to April fool's day since they were really little.  Since its Carter's birthday on April 1st, we have to play some fun tricks.  I didn't have much time to plan much and I knew that I wouldn't be home when the kids got up for school so this is what I came up with...Funny places to put shoes and googly eyes on all the food in the fridge. I even put the shoes that the kids wear to school in hard to reach places.  The kids had a fun time trying to find all the shoes in the house.  I even went so far as putting them in the fridge, freezer and microwave.  So fun!

 In May Carter's entire 6th grade did some Greek mythology presentations to the rest of the school.  Carter was Odysseus...can you tell?? Matt made his six pack chest and shield (which included his script) I put together his costume to look like a skirt (it was the cool thing to wear back in this time frame)

This was such a fun thing to watch all the kids get into their character. Love it!

Easter & Conference

Easter was a fun and relaxing time with the family.  We enjoyed watching conference in our pj's since it was conference weekend and Easter fell on Sunday this year.

Ashlynn's new do..

This cute girl wanted a spur of the moment haircut.  We walked right in and sat in the chair..it was a slow day at the salon.  It looks so fun and fresh for the Spring!

Spring Break Fun

Our family had a stay vacation and played around town.  We went to the Bird Zoo because Matt had never been.  It was a great day!

Carter is 12!

 This full of energy kid turned 12 on April Fool's Day! 

 Turning 12 comes with bigger responsibilities an expectations.  He now will be moving into the Deacon's Quorum at Church where he will have awesome leader's teaching him the responsibilities of having the Priesthood.  We are so proud of the kid he is and glad we get to be part of his life.   

Ashlynn made his Basketball cake.  She thought of it all on her own.

Carter attended a Utah Jazz Basketball clinic on his Birthday.  It was packed with lots of basketball fun.  First, he participated in a basketball clinic, toured the Jazz locker room, sat at the press desk, early admittance to watch the pre-game show and then stood with the players during the national anthem. Lastly, got 2 lower tickets to watch the game that night.

He had so much fun and was in Basketball heaven.  Basketball takes up majority of his free time and you can always find him shooting baskets in the driveway.

 He was given 2 Jazz shirts.

 After all that fun we had a fun surprise with his cake. We put trick candles in the side of the cake and it actually was close to catching the whole cake on fire.  I love this look of Carter worried as he is blowing out his candles.  

Baby Animals Days

The kids loved baby animal days and have been asking to go when it comes around again.  Well, the timing was perfect it landed on Spring Break! So, we met up with some friends and enjoyed our time.  The weather wasn't great with the sun, clouds, wind and snow, but we managed to stick it out. 

Carter convinced me that he wanted to buy a bunny with his Birthday money.  After talking to the bunny keeper..I thought why not, it stays in a cage and can be outside.  So, I fell for it...The keeper told me that these bunnies are calm pets and great for kids. So, we will see how long this lasts.

So far the bunny is very cuddly and loves to sit in the kid's laps.  Carter is in the process of liter training and having it do tricks for a treat.
