Easter Excitement

What a weekend! We have had some horrible weather so we ventured to our local Smith's store and participated in an egg and candy hunt in the store. We have never done anything like this, but who can complain, we were warm and the kids still got to find eggs. I love the picture of Ashlynn finding eggs in the bakery section of the store. I think we will always have this memory of the egg hunt in a grocery store. We also had a delicious ham cooked by Matt (while I was taking a nap before work) and had a delightful dinner with Craig and Gail's family. Then I ended the night working at the hospital. After all the holiday excitement we are now on Spring Break and enjoying the snow (Ha Ha, not really!)

Look who's 7...

Carter was all smiles the day of his birthday on April 1st he could hardly control himself.
He is such a special part of our family. He always wants to know what is going on
and is always right by your side. He doesn't let anything slide by without him knowing.

Carter has been planning his birthday party at the Bubble for a year now. We had a great time swimming and now Ashlynn says she wants a swim party too. It still amazes us that he is so confident in the water. He definitely is not the cautious Carter we know when it comes to playing in the water. He jumps off the side of the pool and the diving board in the deep end with no worries. I think we might have a little swimmer in the family.

1st Grade Field Trip

Carter had a very exciting week (the week of his birthday). His class had their field trip to the aquarium the day before his birthday. He was also the Star of the Week at school. He felt extra special all week long! It is always an adventure to go along with these class trips. The kids love riding on the big yellow bus and are so full of energy to be with all their classmates. I love it!

Happy April Fool's Day!

Carter is such a lucky kid to have his birthday on April Fool's day.

April 1st was his actual due date to be born and he came to

this earth right on time.

We woke up this morning to snow!

I was just looking out the window at the beginning

of the week thinking it was nice to actually see green grass and

then we are back to seeing white.

No April fool's joke here!

For Carter's April fool's joke this year, I got this great idea

from a co-worker of mine. I packed Carter plastic food for his

lunch and then surprised him with McDonald's and balloons.

His class left for lunch a little earlier so, I missed him

opening up his lunch box. I found him running up to the lunch lady explaining the situation and that he needed school lunch.

I then showed him I brought a kids meal and he looked relieved.

He was more annoyed that all his friends were almost finished with their lunches and ready to go to recess. Carter likes to take home lunch so he can be one the first ones out to recess. He says it takes to0 long to wait in the lunch line. So, he inhaled his kids meal and ran out to recess with out

even saying goodbye to Ashlynn and I.

I guess we just were in the way of his routine.

Self Image

At what age do start to worry about your body image?.....Well, apparently at age 4. I picked up Ashlynn from school and asked her what she wanted for lunch she says to me, "Mom, I don't want to eat anything because my tummy is getting too big, and I want to be smaller." I was in shock and could not believe I just heard her say that sentence. At first, I honestly didn't know what to say. She is the perfect size for her little body. As Spongebob Squarepants would say, "This is not happening!" I still have no idea what inspired her to question her image, but we had a talk (as much as a cute 4 year old could understand) and had a good lunch together.

She even wrapped it around her the way she wanted it.

Fun in the Snow

We had so much last year at this place that we had to do it again. Since Park City is only a 40 minute drive from our house I think our little family is going to take up skiing and take some lessons. Carter is wanting to learn how to snowboard since seeing the Olympics. I think it will be fun and keep us entertained next winter. It seems that everyone knows how to ski around here and some start as little as 3 years old. I think we are little behind. Matt is the only one that has some experience with skiing, so we will see how all of us do.

Another tooth gone...

Poor Carter, he spent the 3 day weekend wiggling his top tooth out. This one was a stubborn one. It was very sensitive and he could only eat things that were soft or he could swallow with out chewing. He was so frustrated because he was so hungry, but he couldn't chew. Finally, on Monday afternoon I pulled the tooth out with a little screaming and a few tears. He is so excited that it is finally out and he can eat again!
