A new egg and a baby bird

There was another egg in our bird's nest and one of them hatched. Since this picture was taken the other egg hatched and we have two little baby birds in our Blue Spruce tree. So cute!

Here we come Summer Break!

  Late nights, BBQ's, Swimming, Outdoor movies and of course lots of Lagoon Days are in our future this summer.

Field Day 2014

Field Day 2014 was on the day before the last day of school.  I was on the committee that planned out the events and we came up with some fun new games.  It was also a beautiful sunny day to enjoy a day out of class.  We had positive reviews and felt like it was a total success! I was running the Dodge Sponge Toss so I didn't get many pictures of the kids, but was able to snap a few.

Let me just add that my arms were so sore after because the hose didn't reach the big tubs I was using for the sponges and I had to carry tons of gallons of water to and from the hose to my station.  It was definitely worth the work out though!  Carter and his friend were a BIG help in the afternoon because when their class was done with all the events their teacher let them help out with the younger grades in the afternoon.

The Tug-a-War is always a favorite.  Really anything that had water involved got the kids excited. It was fun to see the teachers participating.  In this photo Carter's teacher is spraying them with the hose.

 More water is involved with the Fireman Relay. This was a race to fill your bucket at the end of the line, but there is a trick to it..there were holes in the cups so you had to work fast. So fun!

Carter's Olympics

Carter's grade had the afternoon session of the Olympics while Ashlynn's grade headed back to class. Carter and I ate lunch together after watching Ashlynn's events and then headed back to the track for some more Olympic fun. Carter got second in his class in the 100 meter dash and that qualified him for the 4 x 100 meter relay. He was so excited for that because its class against class in his grade for the relay. Then he also qualified to run the mile run. It was a very warm and sunny afternoon but all the kids had fun. I am so glad the school was able to keep this fun tradition going!

Ashlynn's Olympics 2014

This is one of my favorite things our school does. It is the Lincoln Olympics! It was started when Salt Lake City hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002 and they have kept the tradition going since then. During our PTA meetings we were worried that we wouldn't be able to fit it in because our school was switched a traditional schedule this year and we did the Olympics in July instead of May. We were all excited that we were able go on with the games! I was at another event with Carter, but we were able to get away early to catch a few events of Ashlynn's. She was so excited to see us and cheer her on!

It was hot and sunny day but the kids had so much fun with all the activities!

Math & Science Olympiad 2014

Carter and his friend Cameron were also selected to participate in the Math and Science Olympiad for their school. Their event was the mystery architecture. They had to build the highest tower using paper and tape and had a time limit. When they found out this was their event the boys practiced during their recess and prep time for a whole month to make the perfect tower and they had it down to a science. So, an unfortunate event happened at the competition...their time limit was shortened to 12 minutes instead of 20 minutes. So, they did what they could and did not place in the event, but still had a awesome tower to be proud of. They still got to miss a day of school so they were excited for that!     

The PE Decathlon winners again..

Carter was selected again to participate in the 4th annual Davis School District Decathlon for the 2nd year. When he found out he was so excited to do it again. This is such a fun activity for the kids! As a fourth grader their team came in 4th and this year their team came in 3rd. They were given the bronze metal to show their achievement of winning. Their team had to do several events that you learn in PE through out the school year. Our PE teacher puts together the top 2 girls and top 2 boys from each grade starting at 4th grade. So, there are only 12 students from 4th-6th grade that can participate. So, that in itself is a hug accomplishment too. Their team did so good and we were all proud of their efforts! 

The 4th graders got 4th and the 6th graders got FIRST place..Yahoo! We all placed out of the 18 schools. We are the Lincoln Lynx!
