Basketball Season is here

Carter has started basketball and is really enjoying it. The season runs until the end of March.
His team is really good!  They have won the first 5 games so far by more than 15 points each game.  (In Carter's words "We have creamed every team").

Carter plays point guard and has improved his skills from last year.  He is more confident with the ball this year.  He has made some great shots.

He looks forward to practice and games each week.  Carter even fills in down time at home shooting hoops outside regardless of the weather.  I love his dedication!

Ashlynn's Class Snow Party

Ashlynn's class had a snow party a few weeks ago.  They had spray bottles with food coloring mixed with water.  They all had a great time making their sculptures and painting them!

Valentines

 The day before Valentines the kids had a school party at the skating rink.  They each had to earn points so they could come.  The fun part was that the kids could bring along their scooters.  All the kids had a blast with the fun music, races and games on their wheels. 

Carter on his roller blades.  His poor feet were so sore because they were slightly too small for him now. They fit just fine this past summer... I just can't keep up with his growing feet.  

Dalton Hill

Our good friends the Dalton's invited us over for some serious fun sledding.  We couldn't pass up the opportunity to enjoy all this fluffy white snow that is all around us.  The weather was beautiful...the sun was out and nothing but blue skies.  It was a perfect afternoon activity!  This hill was the perfect size with lots of jumps to make it exciting for the boys and softer tracks for the nervous ones.  Ashlynn liked playing with the Dalton's cat Guss too.  Thanks Dalton's for the fun Time!

Snow..Snow and more Snow..

We were hit with a few more snow storms that left us with more of this white stuff.  We still had snow left over from last month's snow storms.  Our piles around our house are getting so big that our driveway is starting to lift up from all the heavy snow on the edges.  The kids have enjoyed building things in the snow each day after school.  We have had some bad air quality and too cold of weather for the kids to still not have any outdoor recess at school, so when they get home they are ready to play outside in their winter gear. 
 

Slick..Slick..Slick!

We had a ice storm last week with freezing rain.  All the roads and driveways were a ice rink. I think I prefer driving on snow packed roads than this stuff. 

As you can tell my car decided that it would not make the turn to get out on the street.  It just slid down sideways and then as I was trying to get off the slanted driveway, I buried my front tires into the snow pile because I couldn't get any traction.  I was stuck!  I was on my way to pick up the kids from school.  I then had to have my nice neighbor take me to get the kids that had been waiting for me to pick them up.  The poor kids were one of the last kids picked up that day.

 

Then, my other neighbor helped me chisel the driveway so that I could get traction to get the car up the driveway and dig out my tires.  There was about a 1/4 inch of solid ice to chisel away.  It was definitely a group effort.

These pictures were taken by my other teenage neighbor that was texting her mom to tell her what had happened.  I am glad that I could provide the afternoon entertainment. Too Funny! 

 

The school district decided to delay the starting of school by 2 hours the next day.  So, the kids started school at 10:30a and had early out at 1:15p.  It was a really short day for them!

Lets try this again...

A few weeks ago when the kids were off track from school, they had to come with me to a work meeting.  So, after the meeting I took them to the aquarium to let them have some fun.  Well, poor Carter had one of his allergic reactions to some cheese he ate.  We did not give him benadryl in time so he ended up getting sick with vomiting.  So, we had to end our time at the aquarium.  We had only been there for 15 minutes so, the nice workers there gave me paper towels, a plastic bag and some tickets to come back.

 

Well, we did get the chance to go back.  This time we took along some friends and enjoyed a sick free afternoon and went out to dinner with them as well.   

 

We enjoyed our second time around to the aquarium.
