Snow Box Play - Gloves Required

On Sunday we had a good snow storm and this is what was left for us to play in. We have had some sunny days and it makes the snow sparkle. The sky was so blue with white fluffy clouds. It was such a beautiful site I had to take a picture.

There was so much snow, it was hard for her to get up the hill.

In the winter we call it the snow box. By the time summer is over our sand in our sandbox is gone. So, we decided that it is fun to make snow castles and have a ice cream party with the snow.

The kids enjoyed their time in the snow.

Happenings...

I had a request to put new pictures up on the blog. Since Christmas it seems that things have slowed down for us. New Year's was pretty uneventful. I had to work at the hospital New Year's Eve. My co-workers and I had a snack party, watched the count down on TV and then looked out at the stairwell windows to watch the fireworks over the Salt Lake Valley. Exciting, I know!
The snow has tapered off in our area and we have had some sunny days. Matt and Carter made a tubing hill in our backyard and got to use it for one day. Matt put some kind of lubing oil on the bottom of the tube so it would really go fast. He is so creative! We were hoping for more snow so that we could enjoy it more. It is still early to think we will not be getting anymore snow.

Ashlynn and Carter are both enjoying school and playing with their new friends. Carter is getting better at reading his site words and really improving with his writing. Ashlynn is mastering tracing the alphabet and cutting. If she can find a pair of scissors she will cut anything. I am hoping that she doesn't touch her hair. I don't want to be one of those moms that has to get her haircut short to cover up and damage. Yikes!

Matt is recovering well from his surgery and he no longer has the massive black eyes. He has a follow up with the surgeon in February. As for me I am just waiting to get through winter. I miss being able to play outside without being bundled up in 20 layers (just kidding, more like 2 layers.) I am so thankful that we don't have to live in area that has a winter season most of the year. Well, enjoy the pictures. More to came later.

No Injuries!

I am glad to report that we started 2009 off with no injuries from sledding. This little sledding hill is just down the street from our house. Most times when we have gone sledding there is always someone that gets hurt and its not always one of us. It was a beautiful day with the sun shinning and we had fresh snow to sled on. The kids liked it because they could hike up the hill without any help.
I love the photo of Carter going off the small jump. He wasn't going very fast so when he went over the jump his tube stopped. Also, the photo of Carter and Matt when their sled tipped over was a funny moment.

Temple Square

We finally were able to make it to Temple Square last night with some friends. We were bundled up for very cold weather and we actually were little too warm. Some of us were unzipping our coats and taking off our hats by the time we were done with our tour around the square. It was a beautiful night and lights were gorgeous as always. We also sat in the Old Tabernacle and listened to the short presentation of how well the acoustics are. They dropped a pin on the stage and we were able to hear it without a microphone. It was very impressive.

Winter Wonderland

The weather people had been telling us that we were to get a big snow storm on Christmas Eve, so it came a day later. This is what we woke up to the Day after Christmas. I thought these scenes were gorgeous. I love to look at fresh snow and how it covers the trees. It also has a peaceful feeling as well.

Christmas Day

Christmas Day we got up early to see what Santa brought to our house and boy did he deliver. The kids were so excited to find more than just underwear and socks under the tree. Thank you to all the Grandma's and Grandpa's that made our Christmas great! We appreciate all that you do for us. Santa even took a few bites of our candy nativity that was given to us by a friend. I guess Santa needed a little sugar to get through the night. We then ended the day with a Christmas dinner at our house. Matt fried the turkey and it was delicious! It was nice to gather around the table with family and enjoy good food. Then we woke up the day after Christmas with over a foot of snow. I can't believe another Christmas as come and gone. It takes me 3 months to plan and get everything done and then the Holiday is over in 2 days. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
