Jazz Player Appearance

The Jr Jazz organization in our city held a special night for the Jr Jazz Players. The had a special appearance of one of the professional Basketball Jazz players come visit and show off some of his tricks. We got to meet Rudy Gobert #27! If I remember right he is so tall at 7ft 1in, has the biggest wing span in the NBA and is 3inches shy of touching the basketball rim standing flat on his feet.
Here he is being introduced to us.
The boys got to hang out with him on the floor and participate in some competitions with him. This one the boys had to decide if he was going to make certain shots and if you were wrong you had to do push-ups.  Rudy shot some long 3 pointers...I love Carter's face reaction!
Half court shots..
As you may of noticed that Carter is wearing a bright yellow Golden State Warriors NBA Jersey not a Jazz Jersey. Carter wanted to support his Warriors not the Jazz that night because the next night he and Matt were going to the Jazz and Warrior's game and wanted to stand out during Rudy's player appearance.  He certainly did because all the boys were in their Jazz jerseys and there is Carter in his Bright Yellow.  What a funny Kid!
Carter had to do some push-ups...
Then the boys had to decide if he was going to make a full court shot..hmmm..then Rudy tricked the boys and ran up the court and dunked the ball. There was cheering and screaming after the dunk!
Then all the kids started attacking him and we were sent back to our seats because that was one of the rules was that you couldn't touch the player.
Then it was Q & A time. We found out that he is from France and doesn't speak much English and likes food that I can't pronounce or spell.
Lastly, Rudy showed off more dunks.  It was a fun experience!  Ashlynn even enjoyed herself and said as we were driving home "that was fun!"
It is nice to see these players make visits off the court and share their experiences with us.

Tumbling Girl

This is Ashlynn's 2nd year of Tumbling. She looks forward to going every week and she is getting stronger doing her tumbling drills. She enjoys this sport because she doesn't have any competitions and she doesn't have to be on a team.  It is all her and she is doing very well!

This is Ashlynn's Backhand Spring.
She is so close to not having to be spotted by her coach.
Hand Stands...
More Backhand Springs...

Ice Skating

We finally made some time to hit the ice skating rink.
This one of our family traditions to do this activity at least once a year.

Carter jumped right on the ice and took off and wanted to keep on racing us. He is just a little too fast for Ashlynn.

Carter's cute red cheeks! It was slightly chilly in the arena.
Skating on one foot..
Towards the end Ashlynn could skate around without holding to my hand.

This picture is funny..Matt caught this right before Ashlynn went down on the ice.  It is funny because she is smiling as she is falling down.  Love this girl!
We enjoyed our time together and brushed up on our yearly ice skating skills.  I remember being so sore after because I would have to hold Ashlynn up the entire time.  Not this year!  She did GREAT!

Jr Jazz Season has begun!

Here we are at another start of a busy season.  Carter couldn't wait for basketball to start. Carter's basketball skills have improved over the last year that he was excited to put them into action.  These pictures are a recap of his 1st game.  We won (Yeah!) and Carter scored 13 of the 23 points.  We love to watch him play because he is always smiling and having fun!

One of his best friends is on his team again (#20 Cameron).
That just made him more excited!

A steal that led to a made lay up shot. Yeah!

Carter is the point guard and is really good at dribbling the ball around.

Going up for a another jump shot.

He sinked two 3-point shots in his first game.
Look at that nice follow through with this shot.

He was fouled a few times and made 3 of his foul shots.

Snowboarding

We snatched a snowboard that was on the clearance shelf this weekend and thought the kids would have fun trying it out. They were both very excited!  After a few runs down our small sledding hill they both could ride down the hill with out falling.

This is one of Carter's first runs down the hill..slow and steady.

Keeping his balance..

Going down...

Phew...still smiling after the fall

Back down again..

He found a hill with a jump!

I put the camera away to do some sledding and didn't get any shots of this girl snowboarding. She actually picked it up really fast. She kept her balance all the way down the hill and landed upright at the end of our sledding adventure.  I'll get pictures of her next time because I am sure that we are going to do this again.

It is a New Year!

We welcomed 2014 with a quick sledding experience before the Cousins had to head back home to Southern Utah.  We had a GREAT time with our family!  Thanks for visiting!

Looks like they had fun on the sledding hill!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Eve Salt Lake City Fun

We had a couple of girls that did not want to go to the Jazz game so Laura, Caleigh, Elliott, Ashlynn and I stayed at the Salt Palace to play with the Hula Hoops and the Ballroom.  Then we wandered to Temple square to see the lights, Macy's Candy Windows and the Scavenger Hunt in the Family Search Center.  Then after the game we met up with the rest of the gang back at the Salt Palace because they boys wanted to go back to Bounce Town.

We always enjoy this Museum but it was even better this time because our cousins were with us. They had lots of fun doing all the activities!
These are just a few random photos at the Leonardo Art museum and the other events we did.
We will definitely do this again but be better organized with our times and enjoy more things that we didn't get to.  We had such a fun time with our EVE passes!

Then, after all the Downtown excitement we headed back to our place and rang in the New Year with Craig and Gail's family with yummy dips and of course the Chocolate fountain and also a fun game of Brands Monopoly.
Good-Bye 2013 and Welcome 2014!
